HOWARD KURTZ (FOX NEWS HOST): What was most striking about yesterday's coverage was that some anchors and commentators began accusing President Trump of lying hours before the Oval Office address and again after his nine-minute speech. ... There was also legitimate fact-checking by many outlets, including Fox's Shepard Smith challenging the president's assertions on the level of crime committed by illegal immigrants and his claim that Democrats wanted no funds for border security as opposed to funding a wall. But little fact-checking of the response by [Speaker of the House] Nancy Pelosi and [Sen.] Chuck Schumer. Many pundits also said the president? Not at his best reading a scripted speech. At times though, it seems like the media establishment was debating President Trump rather than just covering and analyzing and fact-checking his televised address.   Related:  The Washington Post: Fact-checking Trump's speech Previously: On CNN, Daniel Dale explains the value of fact-checking Trump's lies Steve Doocy on Trump's border wall address: "Some have said that he was more presidential than they have ever seen him before" Fox's Howard Kurtz: Women in media criticize Ivanka Trump because they feel "a personal resentment" toward her
