Cops Determined Marine Veteran Wasn’t a Danger Before Thousand Oaks, California, Shooting
Photo Illustration by The Daily BeastIan David Long, the 29-year-old man accused of a shooting rampage at southern California bar that killed, was the subject of a mental-health check by police earlier this year, authorities said. Police are in the early stages of combing through Long’s past, officers were called to his home in April 2018 where they found him “irate, acting a little irrationally,” Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said Thursday. A crisis-intervention team and a mental health specialist were called to assess Long's mental state, which authorities believed might be post-traumatic stress disorder because of his military past, Dean speculated.
