Trump to seek bill giving him broad powers to raise tariffs: report
President Donald Trump will urge Congress at this month's State of the Union address to give him broad new authority to raise tariffs, Bloomberg News reported late Tuesday. The bill, written by Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro, would give the president the power to raise tariffs without congressional approval if other countries' non-tariff measures are deemed too restrictive, Bloomberg reported. While the bill may have some Republican support, it appears unlikely that Democrats will grant Trump additional powers.
