Mattel to make a Barbie movie starring Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie
Mattel Inc. said Tuesday that it has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures Group to make a first-ever live-action Barbie film starring Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie. This is the first deal from the new Mattel Films division, led by Academy Award-nominated producer Robbie Brenner. Robbie is also co-producing the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner. On Monday, Mattel announced that it is creating a line of dolls, games and more based on the band BTS. Mattel shares have gained 7.7% for the week so far, but have slumped 29.1% over the last 12 months. The S&P 500 index has fallen 7.2% for the past year.
